Janjira Island, Nawab Sidi Muhammad Khan I (1803–1848 AD/1218–1265 AH), INO Shah Ali Gauhar, Silver Rupee, 11.10grms, Fasli Date 1243/1835AD, Ankusi as Mintmark, Minted in Poona, Very Fine+, Very Rare. This silver rupee bears a bold Nagari countermark “JA,” unmistakably attributing it to the State of Janjira. What sets this coin apart is the presence of a Fasli date—a rare and significant feature that aligns it with Presidency-style coinage, yet it retains the distinct fabric and aesthetics of Peshwa-Maratha tradition.
