Description
Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service. First Variety (1951-1998), 27.1 grams , 34.93mm, This medal was first introduced in
the pre-independence period to distinguish between awards for gallantry from medals awarded for long or
meritorious service. The medal presented here is of a type continued from the pre-independence period,
with minimal changes on the obverse. The effigy of the monarch is replaced by the State Emblem and the
State Motto. The reverse is entirely in English as earlier. The inscription on the edge reads: Awarded to P.
S. Negi, Sub. Major, 41st Bt CRPF.
