Madras Presidency, INO Muhammad Shah(1332-1161AH/1719-1748AD), Silver Rupee, 11.20grms, Minted at Chintadripetta, Pseudo Mint name Arcot, (Paul-EIC#2.47), Extra Fine, Very Rare Chintadripet, now a vibrant neighborhood in Chennai, once held quiet importance during the British colonial era as a lesser-known minting site under the Madras Presidency. Established in 1734 as a settlement for artisans and weavers, its strategic location near Fort St. George made it ideal for small-scale minting by the East India Company. Today, its minting legacy is nearly forgotten, yet collectors value its connection to the formative years of British monetary presence in southern India.
